Television is the first truly democratic culture– the first culture available to everybody and entirely governed by what the people want. The most terrifying thing is what people do want. Clive Barnes”
Kelly Brook has been given a boost with her bid to crack Hollywood after writers were recruited to pen a script for the second series of her US sitcom. The actress, who is currently starring in Ellen DeGeneres‘ One Big Happy series, is delighted that the show is on the verge of being recommissioned for a second series. It pulled in over 5 million viewers for its premiere last week. Despite a drop this week due to the American Spring Break, Ellen is preparing for another six episodes next year on US network NBC in the hope she can get another series.
Kelly, 35, plays a British barmaid called Prudence in the comedy, is said to
be “delighted” at the prospect of being able to have another series aired in the States. An NBC source said: “Sitcoms in America are so dependent on the writing, so good writers are crucial, the best ones are currently being secured for a potential season two.” Since arriving in Los Angeles last summer, Kelly has become a household name in the States and is also the face of shoe brand, Sketchers. She has also lost over eight pounds since starting the Atkins diet at the beginning of the year. Kelly is returning to the UK for a fortnight to shoot her campaign for Atkins.
