Louis CK causes outrage with lengthy joke about child molestation – has he gone too far?
Louis CK has shocked viewers with a long and uncomfortable ‘joke’ about child molestation on Saturday Night Live. The controversial comedian suggested that paedophiles must be willing to put up with being hated because abusing young boys “must be really good”. The audience could be heard gasping as he continued trying to rationalize being a child molester.
He went on to say that he would give up Monds bars (his favourite treat), if eating them would mean he ends up in jail but “they obviously don’t taste as good as little boys”. Viewers took to Twitter to express outrage over the very risqué jokes. One wrote: “Louis CK is amazing, but this is awful. Trivialising child rape can never be funny.”
Was it all a bit too much?
Another added: “Sorry @nbcsnl Louis CK, there is nothing remotely funny about child molesters #SNL40” Other viewers defended the joke though and accused people of being too sensitive. “Who’s calling Louis CK’s SNL monologue offensive? What drips,” wrote one fan. Someone else wrote: “If #LouisCK ‘s SNL monologue is the most offensive thing to you?…you’ve had a pleasant year, congrats…real adults got some laughs.”
